In the east of Grolloo you find the state forestry Gieten/Borger. In the south and west the forestry's of Grolloo/Schoonloo and Hooghalen. You find there all kinds of trees, swamps and areas where sand and wind have there own free game. Because of the nearby radio-telescopes there is a large area where motorised transport is not allowed. So silence is what you hear.
